Create a Transparent Gradient image in Photoshop

In this Post, I will show you How to Create a Transparent Gradient image which fades an image to transparency using Photoshop. This technique can be used to fade an image into the background color or another image, text, etc.

Step 1. Open an image in the photoshop

Step 2. Create new Layer by clicking Create New Layer icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

Step 3. Select the image and Add layer mask by clicking the Add layer mask icon

Now a layer mask is created in the image layer.

Step 4. Select the gradient tool and apply a black/white gradient to the image layer.

Step 5. Clicking and dragging (with the mouse button held down) from one side of the image to the other.

In the example below, a gradient is applied to the image from top to bottom.
